Switching from Yotpo Loyalty to TruePoints
TruePoints is a focused points program with flat pricing. Before the pitch, the honest part: it does not do VIP tiers. If tiers are the centre of your program, this isn't a like-for-like replacement — and it's better you know that here than after installing.
Who this is for. Stores that want points earned on orders and redeemed for real discount codes, without a bill that grows with order volume. Stores that need tiered membership levels, referral engines or on-site review widgets should stay where they are.
What you'd be giving up
Yotpo Loyalty is part of a broader suite. TruePoints is one thing done carefully, so a straight swap means losing the pieces it doesn't attempt:
- VIP tiers — TruePoints runs a single points program, not tiered membership levels.
- Referral programs — not built.
- Reviews, SMS and email — different products entirely; TruePoints doesn't touch them.
That list is deliberately not buried. An app that oversells itself just earns an uninstall and a one-star review a fortnight later.
What you'd get instead
A points ledger that behaves correctly and a bill that doesn't move. Points are awarded on every paid order against the subtotal — after discounts, before shipping and tax. Refunds claw them back automatically and proportionally, and a balance stops at zero rather than going negative if the customer already spent them.
Redemption mints a genuine single-use Shopify discount code scoped to that customer, so it can't be shared or reused. It works on every Shopify plan — no checkout extension, no Plus requirement.
Moving your balances
Export your customers from Yotpo as CSV and paste the file in. TruePoints recognises a Yotpo
export by its vip_tier and perks columns, imports the points balance,
and ignores the tier data it has nowhere to put.
Before anything is written, the preview shows you which column it read as the balance. Any column reading as a lifetime, earned, pending or redeemed total is rejected by name — importing one of those would over-credit every customer in your store. Rows that don't match a real Shopify customer are reported rather than guessed at.

No order limits, no per-member pricing, no overage fees. Balance import is a Core feature, so a migration starts on Core and the 14-day trial covers it. Export is free on every plan.
Questions
Does TruePoints support VIP tiers?
No. It's a single points program with rewards. If tiers are central to how you run loyalty, TruePoints won't replace that today.
What happens to tier data in my export?
The points balance imports; tier columns are ignored.
Do I need Shopify Plus to let customers redeem?
No — redemption uses a real single-use discount code, which works on any Shopify plan.
Will my bill grow with my order volume?
